Commercial Engineer, Operations Management
Ilke graduated as a commercial engineer from Ghent University in 2019, where she wrote her thesis on food security and climate change. After her studies, she left for Rome on a six-month foreign internship to work for the World Food Program. She followed that up with a second internship in Antwerp on sustainable development. Increasingly fascinated by food, Ilke ended up at Flanders’ FOOD in March 2021, where she mainly focuses on EU Horizon 2020 projects. Ilke also helps enlighten current projects with a ‘business’ and ’sustainability’ perspective.
Outside of work, she enjoys perusing cookbooks, with Ottolenghi as her favourite. Keen to experience a night of Eastern or Italian food-sharing? Her door is always open. To compensate for her Burgundian lifestyle, Ilke likes to trek out on multi-day hikes in the mountains.
